How it was found: reported by the maintainer with a screenshot. Reproduced in a nested Hyprland test session on 2026-10-09.
Confidence: high.
Bug: when a nearby device broadcasts no name, BlueZ uses its address with dashes as the alias, for example "7D-70-3F-22-2D-62". The Available devices list showed that as the device name, with the same address repeated underneath. Scans often surface dozens of these, mostly phones, trackers and beacons.
Fix: on fix/v2-review-gaps (commit
76dd6ca). The backend marks address stand-ins asnamed: false. The new Add device sheet lists named devices with a type icon and folds unnamed ones behind "N nearby devices don't share a name". Paired devices with identical names now show their last address digits.
